Hi, what a good question!
I think there must be other things out there – space is so huge it seems unlikely we are the only thing that has developed!
As to how to go about find ing that out, goshi have no idea. I think that experiemtns like what elements are present in different planets is needed to see if there is the possibility that things could exist would be useful

I don’t know really. I think that watching Dr Who when I was little (and gain now) has left me feeling frightened by the thought of other life forms especially without the aid of a sonic screwdriver. The always seem to be knarky don’t they. I would n’t mind friendly ones who were coming to earth for a holiday. I heard someone on the Reith lectures saying that it was very unlikely we’d be able to make contact because of the time it takes to get their signals. I think he meant that we know there’s nothing like us nearby and so by the time we got their signal and sent a reply it would be millions of years since they sent the original signal and so they’d either be extinct or have left to go to another planet or not be interested in us anymore
