Hi there,
Well, there are definately some ‘issues’ with ivf – see below – but fundamentally i think its a good thing. I see infertility as a problem which is worth treating. Not being able to have kids is heartbreaking for some couples… and if that can be treated… then great!!!
there are, of course, a whole bunch of ‘buts’
one is that it can be dangerous — see other answers elsewhere, but it can, occasionally, have unwanted side effects
theres the awkward issue of what to do with ‘spare’ embryos – again, i think i expand on that elsewhere
these the unknown effect of ivf on the kid — one person asked me ther other day do ivf kids live as long as ‘normal’ kids … and of course the answer is we dont yet know,… cos the first ivf babies are only in their early thirties.
so, lots of things need ‘ironing out’… but fundamentally its a good thing, i think
