      Hi Jodi,
I haven’t I’m afraid, but i’m sure if you spoke to someone in your nearby university or hospital, you would get lots of scientists who would love to get out of the lab and come and chat to interested people about their jobs and experiences – maybe after this event there may be scientists taking part in this who live near your school and would like to do that

We sometimes go out to schools and talk to the children, most of the time we invite classes to visit us in our lab and do some experiments and ask us questions.

Yes I do. I’ve been to my daughter’s schools twice. The first time they were doing a problem solving week and lots of parents went to speak about their work-I did about how we manage a major disaster. The second time was when they had a data handling week and I showed them the population data we use, things like the effect of immunisation on diseases and how the smoking ban has reduced the number of heart attacks.I’ve also been to talk to some A level science students about what I do. A bit like this really buy withless typing!

I am a visiting teacher at the university of east anglia where I teach medical students. And I go in to my son’s school to help. He’s only 7 though. That’s a good idea though. I should see about contacting my local high school. Jo
