• Question: do you have to do any tests before you have IVF?

      Yes, there are lots of test that have to be carried out, and the woman has to be monitored closely all the way through. I’m not sure on all the details, one of the other scientists will no doubt be able t ogive you a better answer

      Yes so that the exact type of the problem can be found. Both the man and the woman have to have blood tests to check hormone levels, the man has to give a sample of sperm and the woman has to have her ovaries and uterus scanned to check everything is ok

      People have ivf because they can’t get pregnant naturally. The doctors therefore need to test the mum and dad to find out why they can’t get pregnant, it could be for example a problem with the sperm or the mums egg or her tubes. from this thay can decide how to treat the mum and dad inorder for them to have a baby.
