• Question: How close are you to a break-through in your research? How mutch would the money help?

      Hi Mop
      Its difficult to know really, we keep hitting new problems – a breakthrough would be the successful transplantation of a whole frozen-thawed human ovary and it working for a number of years. Maybe just 5-10 years or so off that? Thats a difficult question to answer in science!
      If i won the money from this, i would donate it to the charity KIND – i don’t think we are allowed to use it for our own research so it wouldn’t help at all! However if i was to encourage even one student to carry on in science and maybe even start i nthis type of research, then this would help the research!!

      One for the others rather than me I guess on the break through 🙂 on the money question I think it’s hard to put a value on what it means to have someone to talk to when you feel troubled and so I’m not sure how to say what a difference it would make to be able to keep the INUK phone line going.       Hiya,
      I am a few days off showing for the first time that a particular protein is in the placenta.I have an experiment happening at the moment! Basically this means that I am about to show that something excists that can get certain food to the baby in the womb. This is really important so that the baby grows properly and doesn’t get ill. The prize money wouldn’t help this work but it would allow school students to visit my lab and learn about my experiments and try some for themselves.

      I dont think the money is supposed to go towards the research… but instead towards something which helps explain top others awhat we do — see my profile page – im hoping to use the 500 to make a little movie about our lab and send to your schools…
