• Question: I read in the news that IVF causes problems for the child in later years.. is this true?

      There are some studies that suggest that this might be the case but it’s hard to kow really because most women who have IVF are older and older mothers tend to have more damaged eggs ( see Greg’s work) and so have more children with problems. The other problem is that the only real way to know is to follow a large group of IVF children and see how they compare wiht naturally conceived children . you’d need thousand of each thoug to be sure the result wasn’t affected by how well off they were or whether tehyre were any inherited illnesses etc.
