It costs around £3,000 / attempt and I think it is over priced for people on low income, who do not qualify for NHS treatment.

Btw, I like the name potatoe head 🙂

      Hi guys
I don’t have much experience or knowledge of the cost of IVF to the NHS so maybe the other scientists may be able to answer better.
What i do know is that the pot of money is not endless to offer IVF and therefore very tough decision have to be made by the health authorities as to who is offered it for free on the NHS and how many cycles they can have on the NHS. These are difficult decisions that have to be made.
The cost of paying for IVF yourself can be very high – – into the £1000’s per cycle of treatment so that would make it very difficut for some people to afford

Having seen how the costs breakdown then I can see why it cost what it does, drugs, scans time in the operating theatre getting eggs incubating the embryos etc but I do think that it should only cost people who have to pay for it themselves the same as it costs the NHS I don’t think clinics should be allowed to make profits out of iIVF
