I was really interested in the idea that how the baby dsevelops in the womb effects its health and whether it gets disease later in life. The placenta is the thing that attached the baby to the womb and takes food from the mum and transports it to the baby. The placenta is vital for the baby to develop properly in the womb. By studying the placenta we can ensure babies get enough nutrients and grow properly and therefore stop them getting disease in later life.
