• Question: what type of brightly colourful cells do you look at?

      Well, we look at lots of types of cells… but mostly eggs!!

      we do things to them to make them fluorescent, so we can see where particular things are within the cell — see the images on my profile. The blue is the chromosomes — theryve been labelled with a special dye which you can see only with a ‘fluorescent’ microscope. have you ever seen one of those pens where you writ on the paper and cant see anything until you shine a special little ligth which comes with the pen at it ?? — its a bit like that.

      we do this to answer our scientific questions…. but a nice side effect is that the pictures we get are often very pretty!!
